During the presentation at the Torremolinos City Council stand, Jes\u00fas Burgos, the institutional president of HM Hospitales in\u00a0the Southern Region of Spain, explained the extensive renovations carried out at the\u00a0HM Santa Elena International Hospital, the only hospital in the area. Three million euros were invested to refurbish the consultation and Radiology areas, among other areas,\u00a0to hire new healthcare professionals and to acquire state-of-the-art technology.<\/p><p>The Group has four hospitals in the province of Malaga: HM Malaga, HM El Pilar, HM\u00a0G\u00e1lvez, and HM Santa Elena, the latter with a clear international focus. Located in Torremolinos, it has, among other facilities, 43 rooms, adult ICU, medical-surgical day\u00a0hospital, comprehensive oncology center, 5 operating rooms, one dedicated to ambulatory surgery, a hemodynamics room, and a building with 35 consultation rooms.<\/p><p>&#8220;At this center, we are significantly improving our healthcare offerings to international\u00a0patients,&#8221; explains Dr. Benavente, the Southern Region Medical Director of HM Hospitales, adding, &#8220;We are performing a significant number of interventions that require\u00a0greater complexity, thanks to the hiring of some professionals and the use of high-tech\u00a0techniques.\u201d<\/p><p>The Costa del Sol closed 2023 as &#8220;the best tourist year&#8221; in its history. The Malaga destination received 14 million tourists, 9.4% more than in 2022 and one million more tourists than in 2019, according to recent data published by Turismo Costa del Sol and the\u00a0Provincial Government of Malaga.<\/p><p>&#8220;The most popular specialties by foreign patients who come to our hospital are traumatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, among others, and every year we\u00a0receive a significant number of patients who come to our emergency service during\u00a0their holidays,&#8221; says Dr. Benavente.<\/p><p><strong>HM Santa Elena, oriented towards international patients<\/strong><\/p><p>The international patient department of HM Hospitales coordinates with the medical\u00a0team the medical cases in a personalized and comprehensive manner, whether they are\u00a0expatriate patients or those still in their home countries who wish to be treated in their\u00a0hospitals.
