With this new incorporation,\u00a0HM CIEC consolidates its leading position in the diagnosis of cardiovascular\u00a0disease in Cardiology in Spain by welcoming one of the most prominent experts in\u00a0cardiac imaging, specifically Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Computed Axial\u00a0Tomography (CAT), and reinforces its potential in image research and teaching.<\/p><p>Dr. Sanz Salvo also manages the development of the Cardiovascular MR\/CT Clinical Program at the &#8216;Mount Sinai&#8217; Hospital in New York, of which he was appointed director in 2012. In addition, he has been an associate professor of Cardiology and Radiology at the &#8216;Icahn MountSinai School of Medicine&#8217;. Dr. Sanz has extensive experience in cardiac imaging, interpreting more than 60,000 CT studies and 20,000 MRI studies and training more than 100 imaging residents and\u00a0fellows. From an academic perspective, he is the author of more than 100 original\u00a0research publications in high-impact journals, such as &#8216;Circulation&#8217;, &#8216;JACC&#8217; or\u00a0&#8216;European Heart Journal&#8217;, in addition to multiple reviews and book chapters. Dr.\u00a0Sanz has also been Image coordinator of the PESA study at the National Cardiac\u00a0Research Center (CNC), associate editor of the scientific journal &#8216;JACC&#8217; and\u00a0editorial consultant at &#8216;JACC Cardiovascular Imaging&#8217;.<\/p><p>\u201cBoth HM Hospitales and HM CIEC recognize the importance of noninvasive cardiovascular imaging, my area of expertise, and have committed strongly to its development. From an institutional perspective, I am greatly attracted to the vision of a patient-centered medical practice as a fundamental pillar. But, in addition, there is a clear academic and educational vocation, materialized more recently in the HM Faculty of Health Sciences of the UCJC. This triple mission, clinical, teaching and research, fits very well with my profile and I feel very lucky to have been able to join HM Hospitales,\u201d says Dr. Sanz Salvo.<\/p><p>With Dr. Sanz Salvo, the research, care and teaching role of HM CIEC is enhanced\u00a0with special emphasis on exploring and increasing all the possibilities offered by\u00a0CT and cardiac MRI, not only for coronary studies, but also for structural, aortic or\u00a0without coronary. The possibility of integrating a team of excellent and reference\u00a0professionals in the Cardiac Imaging Unit of HM CIEC together with cutting-edge\u00a0technology from HM Hospitales represents a turning point for imaging in Spain.<\/p><p>\u201cIt is an honor, as director of the Cardiac Imaging Unit and HM CIEC, to be able to\u00a0incorporate Dr. Sanz into our team.
